Lin Geng, an associate professor at the School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China, specializes in big data and labor markets, employment and macroeconomics, and income distribution and economic growth. She completed her high school education at No. 1 High School of Jining City in Inner Mongolia before earning a bachelor's degree in automation from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 1989. After working as an assistant engineer at the Zhangjiakou Shoe Last Factory, she pursued a master's degree in commodity science at Renmin University, graduating in 1994. She became a lecturer at the School of Labor and Human Resources in 1994 and obtained her Ph.D. in economics from the China Center for Economic Research, Peking University in 2009. In 2018, she was promoted to associate professor.

Lin Geng has taught courses including Principles of Economics, Labor Economics, Econometrics, Advanced Econometrics, Organizational and Personnel Management Economics, Game Theory, Research on Income Distribution, Wage Theory and Wage Management, Statistics, Modern Statistical Research Methods, Professional Statistics and Management Information Systems, and Application of Computer Technology.

Recognized as an Outstanding Advisor for Bachelor’s Theses in the 2012-2013 academic year, she guided the 2005 cohort of Human Resource Management, Class 2, to win the Advanced Class Collective Award in 2005-2006. Since 2010, she has contributed as a lead author and keynote presenter for the China Employment Quarterly Analysis Conference, co-authoring 58 quarterly analysis reports.

Since 2015, she has been a primary author and presenter for the "China Employment Market Prosperity Index (CIER Index) Report," a project by the China Institute for Employment Research and Zhaopin. This project has released 36 reports, and the CIER Index developed through it has gained substantial media attention and has been included in authoritative databases like Bloomberg and Wind. It has become an essential resource for understanding the state of China's labor market.
